Letting go of Superwoman
Practicing the Art of Self preservation while contributing to Collective Healing

Understanding The Superwoman complex
As women of color, historically, we have been conditioned to support everyone except for ourselves. Within our families and cultural environments, we grow up with spoken and unspoken expectations to be the healer, nurturer, caretaker, and provider, but while we give all of this energy, who is supporting us??
Self Healing and Liberation: Letting go of Superwoman
I am acknowledging the ways I have overextended myself through my adult life as a means of survival. I am now letting go of that emotional weight. My liberation is learning that I don’t have to carry the weight of the world. I don’t have to be all things at once and it is ok for me to prioritize my own healing and wholeness. I am learning how to set healthy boundaries in all aspects of my life. I am no longer doing more than I comfortably can do as one person with limited support and resources.
Being a Community Leader
Know when to step back and when to step up.
In creating a reality of collective healing and empowerment, we need to learn how to work together as families, communities, and as a society. It is time for men and people with more abundant social and financial resources to step up and carry more of the collective burdens we have inherited. It is not fair and it is unhealthy for women of color to invest all of our time and energy into solving systemic issues we didn’t create. We are still fighting to heal and build our resilience in the face of a society that does not honor or value who we are. Every day we are forced to learn how to protect ourselves because there is no one protecting us at a personal or systemic level.
Mindful Healing Affirmations
Our Lives Matter: Mind, Body, and Soul
I Honor my sacred intentions to prioritize my personal healing and wholeness first and foremost.
From this place of self-fullness, I am able to contribute to healing and empowering my community.
My Joy Matters! I am committed to maintaining my joy despite all reasons not to be.
Letting go-I am releasing ingrained expectations and obligations to serve while sacrificing my own needs. My self care and happiness matters. My inner wellbeing and peace of mind matter.
I honor differences with an attitude of love and compassion. As women and as leaders, we don’t have to serve in the same capacity or in the same type of environments. It is time for all of us to learn how to honor our emotional needs, not just as women, but as human beings. Realize that we are all impacted by systemic trauma.
Caring for myself is not self indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.
